U.S. Green Chamber of Commerce Becomes EcoAthletes Organizational Supporter

Today’s announcement of a partnership between EcoAthletes and the U.S. Green Chamber of Commerce demonstrates the value of connecting the former’s network of climate change fighting Athlete Champions with the hundreds of thousands of sustainability-minded small, midsized and large American businesses and global corporations the latter represents. 

“Athletes and businesses each have massive platforms upon which to build a #climatecomeback,” noted EcoAthletes founder Lew Blaustein. “We look forward to working with the U.S. Green Chamber and the companies in their network to make that happen.”

The Chamber’s biggest initiative is to have 2 Billion people — roughly 28 percent of humanity — sign on to its Global Climate Pledge by the end of 2022. Signees, whether they be individuals, companies or nonprofits, must commit to take at least one climate action. Sports, with its massive global fan base, will need to be activated if the Pledge is to reach its audacious targets. The U.S. Green Chamber-EcoAthletes partnership is an important first step in that activation.

The organizations already had a strong connection before the partnership was finalized thanks to Alena Olsen.

A member of the U.S. Women’s Rugby team, Olsen was an early EcoAthletes Champion. And she also works as content director for the U.S. Green Chamber of Commerce and the Global Climate Pledge.

“I’m just as excited to see the U.S. Green Chamber support EcoAthletes as I was to become a supporter myself because I see so much potential in the work that both organizations are doing and playing on each others strengths will only make the work exponentially more powerful,” enthused Olsen. “I look forward to seeing some of my fellow EcoAthletes publicly taking the Global Climate Pledge! I also know we have some entrepreneurs in the group and I think they could access game-changing resources and make some incredible connections with other global and like-minded businesses that are part of USGCC
