The intersectional nature of climate, social and racial justice — and how sports can play a role in spurring positive change — was the focus of “Leveling The Playing Field: Sports & Climate Justice”, an engaging panel discussion sponsored by EcoAthletes as part of the recently-concluded Climate Week NYC 2020. 

Environmental justice expert and Lotus Advisory Managing Director Kunal Merchant moderated the conversation. The All-Star panel lineup consisted of Chris Dickerson (ex-MLB outfielder and founder of Players For The Planet), Roger McClendon (executive director, Green Sports Alliance), Midge Purce (USWNT and Sky Blue FC forward, recently elected to Harvard’s board of overseers on a “Climate Forward” platform), and Jenny Vrentas (senior writer at Sports Illustrated; EcoAthletes advisory board member).
