Lily Brazel, member of the Hockeyroos, Australia’s national field hockey team, was one of the first EcoAthletes Champions.
Now, she is adding her startup Stature Clothing Australia — per Brazel, “the sustainable athletic apparel brand for those wanting to perform with the smallest footprint possible” — to the list of EcoAthletes Organizational Supporters.
“EcoAthletes and Stature Australia have very similar missions and underlying concepts — that athletes are dependent upon the natural environment and also have the power and platform to change how things are done,” the 25-year-old eco-preneur shared. “Most athletes are inherently connected to the environment through their activities and can see that their own survival and success depends on the survival and success of our Earth. Partnering with EcoAthletes fuels our joint mission of driving change through sport. We both also understand the power of climate education — believing that providing our communities with education around big’ concepts like climate action gives them power to make better decisions.”
The partnership is also a natural one from EcoAthletes perspective.
“We look forward to collaborating with Lily as both an athlete and as Stature Clothing’s founder to help us develop ways to deliver our ‘Climate Education for Athletes’ courses in Australia and New Zealand,” said EcoAthletes founder Lew Blaustein. “Stature can also help us amplify the need for the fashion industry to take serious steps towards decarbonization. And we look forward to spreading the EcoAthletes message and spurring a #ClimateComeback via her excellent ‘State of Us’ podcast.”
Brazel also sees content sharing as another important of the partnership.
“EcoAthletes can help build Stature’s profile as a business with performance and environment at its core by featuring us on its website and social channels,” the Olympic field hockey hopeful asserted. “I also see EcoAthletes as a connector for us to athletes around the world when we extend our business beyond the Australia’s and New Zealand’s borders.”
